Since we've lived here for 4 years now, we decided it was finally time to make a visit to our very own national monument, Fossil Butte. This area used to be covered by a lake that left a lot of fish fossils as well as some other animals, such as this crocodile seen here. It would be nice if Kemmerer still had some of the tropical climate! Although Jordan was mostly interested in trying to get us to buy something for him from the gift shop (which we didn't), I think the boys had a fun time. After visiting the museum, we decided to take a quick little hike (about 2 miles). It would have been great, but we were kind of in a rush and the mosquitoes were swarming like crazy so the whole time we're pressuring Jarrett to hurry and I felt bad for the little guy. He sure is a trooper though. At one point I asked him if he was having fun and he replied in the sweetest little voice, "Not too fun." I don't think he whined or complained once, although the same can't be said for his older brother who kept asking us about every minute if we could just go back. The little field trip did do the trick of exhausting them though, as it's 7:30 a.m. and they're both still asleep. I don't think they've slept past 6:30 once this summer. Enjoy the pictures and if you ever decide to visit us, this is what you get to look forward to!

Looks like a fun time minus the mosquitoes! I totally agree on the need for a more tropical climate in Kemmerer!
I remember being around that age when we took a family trip to the Lewis and Clark Caverns. The hike wasn't even a mile (probably not even a half mile), but I thought I was going to die. Then when we entered the cavern, I was more worried about bats than anything, because Josey and Shiloh had just told me that bats especially attacked boys with blue eyes and light blond hair. I didn't go back til I was twenty six, and then missed more than half the caves because the lights went out and they had to rush us to the end with flashlights. *Sigh* One day, Lewis and Clark Caverns. One day. By the way, I absolutely love your posts. They do my heart good. The more the merrier!
P.S. that sunset photo is really great.
How fun! I love seeing pics of little Jaycie! I can't wait to get her together with Corey. It could be love!
